We May Be a Good Fit If You:
Are healing from childhood, relational, or religious trauma and want to better understand how those experiences continue to shape your present.
Find yourself stuck in patterns such as people-pleasing, perfectionism, chronic overfunctioning, or feeling responsible for everyone else's well-being.
Want to explore how your family of origin, attachment experiences, or relationships have influenced the way you think, feel, and connect with others.
Feel disconnected from your body, emotions, or sense of self and want to cultivate greater presence, safety, and integration.
Want deeper, more authentic friendships and community, but find yourself feeling lonely or unsure how to build the connection you're craving.
Are navigating a significant life transition or questioning your identity, purpose, or sense of direction.
Want to develop healthier boundaries, more reciprocal relationships, and a stronger connection with your own needs, values, and authentic voice.
Are seeking more than symptom relief—you want to integrate past experiences and create lasting change in how you relate to yourself and others.

Therapy looks different for every person, but many clients come to therapy hoping to...
Better understand the connection between your brain, body, emotions, relationships, and life experiences.
Process and integrate painful experiences so they no longer feel like they define your present.
Develop greater awareness of your emotions, needs, values, and the different parts of yourself.
Reduce anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or chronic overfunctioning that no longer serve you.
Feel more grounded, present, and connected to your body and internal experience.
Cultivate self-compassion and loosen the grip of shame and self-criticism.
Build healthier boundaries and more reciprocal, fulfilling relationships.
Live with greater authenticity, intention, and alignment with the person you want to become.

I don't just want to help you manage symptoms — I want to help you understand yourself more fully, and build a different relationship with the parts of you that have been carrying pain, protecting you, or waiting to be heard.
I believe lasting change happens through experience, not just insight. It's not enough to talk about what happened or understand it intellectually — real integration happens when we can process experiences somatically, make space for the different parts of you with curiosity instead of judgment, and practice new ways of relating to yourself in the room together. My role isn't to fix you or hand you answers, but to walk alongside you as you turn toward what's been avoided, with the courage to look and the compassion to meet what you find.
My approach is integrative, rooted in EMDR (a structured approach for processing and integrating difficult or traumatic memories), Internal Family Systems (getting to know and befriend the different parts of yourself), and somatic and expressive arts approaches (working with the body and creativity, not just words, since healing doesn't only happen through talking).

We may be a good fit if:
You're willing to show up and try, even if you're feeling discouraged about whether things can change.
Your goal is to understand one another — not just "fix" each other — in order to strengthen your relationship.
You keep finding yourselves in the same cycle and want to become partners against the pattern, getting back on the same team.
You've been together for years — the conflict has quieted, but so has the connection — and you're ready to rekindle curiosity to find your way back to each other.
You're navigating a difficult season or life transition together — a move, a new baby, a career shift, a loss — and want to learn how to stay connected to each other while you move through it.
You're building a life together in the early stages of your relationship and want to communicate about the foundation you're building on.
You want to understand how your family histories, unique identities, and life experiences are shaping your patterns, and consciously choose how you show up in your relationship.
You want real tools for repair — not just avoiding conflict, but knowing how to come back together after it.
I may not be the best fit for couple’s therapy if:
One or both partners are still deciding whether they want to remain in the relationship asI do not provide discernment counseling.
You're seeking specialized treatment for compulsive sexual behaviors or complex sexual concerns that would be better addressed by a certified sex therapist.
You're seeking treatment specifically focused on recovering from a recent affair or infidelity. I don't specialize in affair recovery.
There is active domestic violence.
There is an active substance use disorder. I am not a certified Substance Use Disorder Professional.

Relationships naturally go through seasons of closeness and distance, and seeking support doesn't mean your relationship is failing—it means you're choosing to invest in it. You may find yourselves having the same arguments without resolution, feeling misunderstood, or wondering where the friendship, playfulness, and emotional closeness you once shared has gone. Perhaps the transition to parenthood, life's many demands, or longstanding patterns of pursuing, withdrawing, criticizing, or shutting down have left you feeling disconnected or alone. Together, we'll slow down and make sense of the cycle you've become caught in, helping you better understand one another, reconnect with the strengths in your relationship, and develop new ways of communicating that foster greater trust, safety, and intimacy.
Together, we will:
Understand the patterns that keep you stuck in the same conflicts.
Improve communication while helping each partner feel heard, understood, and emotionally safe.
Strengthen emotional connection, trust, and friendship.
Rebuild intimacy and closeness after seasons of stress, distance, or transition.
Navigate life changes—such as becoming parents—as a more connected team.
Better understand one another's emotional needs, attachment patterns, and ways of coping.
Develop healthier ways of responding to conflict and repairing after moments of disconnection.
Create a relationship that reflects the values, partnership, and family life you want to build together.
-
I view the relationship itself as the client. My goal is to help you move from feeling like you're on opposite sides of the problem to working together as partners against the pattern.
I believe lasting change happens through new relational experiences—not simply talking about problems. Couples therapy provides an opportunity to slow down, notice what happens between you in the moment, and practice responding to one another in new ways. Together, we'll explore the patterns you've become caught in, the life experiences that shape how each of you loves and protects yourselves, and the ways stress, parenting, family history, or unmet needs may be influencing your relationship today. My role isn't to determine who's right or wrong, but to help you better understand one another, strengthen your emotional connection, and create new ways of relating that foster greater trust, safety, and connection.
My approach to couples work is integrative, rooted in Emotion Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Gottman methods.

EMDR & Trauma-Focused Therapy
-
Trauma isn't just something that happened to you — it's something that can continue to shape how you think, feel, relate to others, and experience your own body, long after the event itself has passed.
Our work begins by creating a safe, collaborative relationship and developing an understanding of how trauma continues to influence your thoughts, emotions, relationships, body, and nervous system. Together, we'll learn to recognize when your nervous system is activated, identify internal and external resources, and build practices that help you feel more grounded and regulated.
Depending on your needs and preferences, we may incorporate expressive arts, writing, metaphor, or symbolic work to help access and give voice to experiences that can be difficult to express with words alone. We'll pay attention to your body's cues, gently cultivating greater embodiment and presence while reducing patterns of dissociation, avoidance, or relying solely on intellectual understanding.
Together, we'll explore the protective strategies that helped you survive, compassionately tend to the parts of you that carry pain, and work toward integrating your experiences so your brain and body can recognize greater safety, agency, and connection in the present.
EMDR is a specific evidence-based treatment modality and with protocols that can accelerate trauma healing and integration. EMDR is not required to resolve past trauma, but if you are interested in incorporating EMDR into your treatment we can discuss this together. You can read more further in this section.

Trauma therapy isn't about forgetting the past—it's about changing your relationship to it. Together, we work toward:
Helping your brain and nervous system process experiences that continue to feel emotionally or physically "stuck."
Reducing the emotional and physical intensity of traumatic memories.
Increasing your sense of safety, stability, and regulation in the present.
Transforming painful beliefs about yourself into more adaptive, compassionate ones.
Reconnecting with your body, emotions, and inner experience after periods of survival or disconnection.
Integrating traumatic experiences into your life story without allowing them to define your identity.
Developing greater flexibility, resilience, and freedom in how you think, feel, relate, and respond.
Living with greater presence, connection, and hope for the future.
-
Continue to feel the impact of painful or overwhelming experiences long after they've ended.
Find yourself stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, despite years of insight or self-reflection.
Experience anxiety, emotional overwhelm, shame, or a nervous system that feels "on alert."
Notice that past experiences continue to shape your relationships, sense of self, or ability to feel present.
Struggle with talking about experiences and may prefer a less verbal modality that allows your brain to access it’s natural healing.
-
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based, 8 phase treatment that uses bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements, tapping, or alternating tones) and additional therapeutic protocols to help the brain process and integrate traumatic memories. As these experiences are reprocessed, many people notice a reduction in emotional and physical activation, an increased sense of safety in the present, and the development of more adaptive beliefs that positively influence their thoughts, emotions, body sensations, and behaviors.
One way it differs from traditional talk therapy is that it supports your brains’ natural healing process and does not require you to talk in detail about traumatic memories, but it does involve noticing disturbing/distressing material. The mechanisms involved in EMDR support connection between neural networks to support proper metabolism of trauma memories that became fragmented or “frozen in time.”
EMDR can be used treat PTSD, grief and loss, chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and a variety of other mental health conditions.
